Cake Stands....

This week I am making Cake Stands.
Below is a cup stand that has proven very popular.
They are all made from Good English China.
The cup Plate Stands are $15

 My problem is
I Love all the plates I have, yes all 100 plus of them.
Some are in the shop the rest are hiding in the house. Then
I have to make a chioce what plates to use for stands.

The Cake Stand below I need to drill holes into
as yet I haven't broken any but it is still nerve wracking choosing what plates to use
in case I do.
These Stands are
$25

This week I am only open on Thursday 19th
As we are doing a quick Road trip to Charters Towers for our Grandsons 2nd Birthday.

This Thursday is also our craft day
From 9:30 onwards.
We are all knitting and crocheting this week, so I have lots of new yarns in the shop

Enjoy your week
Make sure you take some time to do what you love...

Craft Day @ The Old Dairy.

Welcome to the end of the week.
I bet there is a lot of you looking forward to the week end.
I will be busy today and Saturday doing markets and the shop.

I love my old milk separator at the front door of
The Old Dairy.
hmmm just noticed the welcome sign has been decorated by my grandson.

Lots of new goodies in the shop this week.
The handmade sign above is made locally and the lady Cassie that makes them
also does them made to order.

Below is the new range of Tye dyed baby items made by another local lady Jasmine.
Cassie makes the pillows, I love the Retro fabric she has used in these two.

I am having fun making pom pom garlands this week, I find the teenage girls love them along with the hippy chick socks, that all sold out last week end.

I am finding that locals are coming to me wanting to sell there arts and crafts which is just what I wanted. Some where for those that love to create can sell there work and then have some spare money to keep the addiction going. hahaha

We had our first craft day last week and it was a real success, 8 ladies turned up and we had lots of fun. We are all wanting to knit and crochet at the moment and are learning so much of each other.

Lucky I have a nice range of cotton and bamboo yarns available as well as needles and hooks.
Craft is going to be on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month, so if you are about drop in.

Enjoy your week end and I hope you fit a little bit of what you
love to do into your week end.

Opening Night...

Thursday night was opening night of my little shop.
It went really well and I had about 30 people turn up.
I was so busy though that I forgot to take photos.

I had really good feed back from every one there, even the men!
All the hard work is done now and I can enjoy doing my arts and crafts
for my little shop and Markets.

I am still going to do the Markets as I really enjoy doing them.
If I get too busy in the shop for Bruce to handle then I will reconsider, but I think that is
A long way off.

I got in lots of Washi Tape and am having fun with it and its selling very fast.
Also my Hippie Chic socks are walking out the door hahah I'm so funny.

I have also added some stitchery and Red work, we will see how they go.
The bottom 2 are cross stitches.

Thanks for stopping Bye.

A kitchen dresser.....

I have been playing around up at
The Old Dairy

I had this kitchen dresser in the shed waiting for some TLC, but I decided it was perfect here
to display goodies in.
I love the little pom pom banner, these are new and I'm having fun making them.

I have made mens shaving cream, it is so soft and creamy
and the men of the house say it works well, I also have shaving brushes to go with it.

Hubby wallpapered this front wall in the shop and I am in love with it.
I love orange.

Lots of new soap in the shop as well. This week I am making a men's shaving soap,
I'll let you know how that works!

Having been away at The Sunshine Coast for the last 2 weeks
There was plenty of time to sit in the sun and think about the year ahead.

Also lots of time for shopping, I got some really cool flags for out the front of the shop,
and I nearly filled the caravan up with finds from the thrift shops.

Tomorrow is the Grand Opening of
The Old Dairy

Opening with a Wine and Cheese night
Looking forward to seeing the reactions people have to my work.

The Old Dairy Shop.

Hi All
and Welcome back.

I have so busy this last month doing Saturday markets. It has been such a success I have decided to open a shop in the Old Dairy.

I have lots of bric-a-brac for sale.

Furniture
One room is set up for vintage and used goods and the other room for Handmade items.

I have pillows.

Dishcloths and facecloths, knitted and crocheted.

Lots of candles, melts and tea light candles.

Hand cut pressed metal hearts as well.

And lots of soap.

I have already sold so much and I haven't even opened yet.

Having a shop has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember.
What made me start now you ask?
I read a sign in a coffee shop that said.
If you are not
Doing what you love
You are wasting
Your time.

So I decided to turn doing what I love into a part time business..

Enjoy your week.
The Last of 2014 and ask your self
Are you doing what you Love?

Laundry Day.

Happy Monday everyone.

My morning started by having to make Laundry Liquid before
I could start the washing, so I thought I would share the recipe with you.

10 Litres water
1 cup lux soap flakes
1/2 cup WASHING soda
1/2 cup bi-carb.

Heat 2 litres of water on stove with soap flakes, until dissolved, then add washing soda
mix  until mixture thickens then add bicarb.

I then pour the  hot soap  liquid into my plastic tub and SLOWLY add
water to make up to 10 litres. I use my stick blender to continually mix while adding water
other wise the mixture can go lumpy. I also like to add a fragrant oil at this time. Today I used peppermint.

One liquid is thoroughly mixed I pour it into my empty vinegar bottles. How easy is that, 5 mins that all it takes to make 10 litres of laundry liquid, quicker than running down to shops.
Tip- Leave a gape in each bottle so you can shake the mixture as it sometimes gets thick.

My laundry is a small room but it works for me, one side is the washing machine,
and the other is a bench that I fold the clothes on into piles for everyone. Above
the bench is my vases as I also bring my cut flowers from the garden here. The basket on the
washing machine has my gardening gloves  in it.

I love my clothes line, I went from a hills hoist to this about 6 years ago now,
a great old guy built the deck and line for me. What I love most is it doesn't swing around in the wind.
Do you line dry your clothes? I love the smell of sunshine on my clothes.
I know a lot of countries only use a clothes dryer and have no line.

My laundry isn't big enough to iron in so i do that here in the
family room next to the laundry.

So the washing is done and not yet dry so I'm off to do some gardening.

We have a student free day in in QLD today so I am going to put
my boys to work helping me in the garden,
They don't know that yet and I still have to get Robbie out of bed but that's the plan. :)
Have a great Monday what ever you are doing today.

Hello Betty......

Here I was driving in Cairns on holidays towing a caravan and look what we see...

Once that van was set up and the kids were all good we went back looking for Betty....What a treasure trove.

This funky chick meet us in the door, so much to see in this shop I had a great time.

Furniture, clothes, brick-a- brac every thing, they had. Being on holidays I couldn't get to much.
I got some records, broaches and a out fit.

Sorry it's a bit blurry, I had the boots already though. I know this will be my new favourite winter outfit.

I went into to so many vintage and thrift shops on holidays, the kids were groaning hahaha. Never mind I know deep inside they were having fun........

Till next time
